CAD Converter
Turn one CAD import or link into native Revit detail lines and filled regions: each CAD layer gets a line style, each hatch a filled region type. Follow the notes, or just play.

How it works
- Works in a plan, section, elevation, detail, drafting view or legend. Select one CAD import or link and click CAD to Detail, or click it with nothing selected and pick the CAD.
- Revit does not keep the file of an imported CAD, so when the CAD has filled faces you are asked for the original DWG or DXF. With it, every hatch is matched to its pattern (Hatches tab, SOLID split by colour); a linked CAD is read from its own path. Without it, fills follow the layer (Filled region column), and patterned hatches may come in as solid fills.
- Layers tab: one row per CAD layer. Use decides whether the layer is converted, lines and fills. The line style suggestion is the style you used last time for that layer name, then a style with the layer's own name, then the closest look (line weight first, then colour, then pattern). A red "May be hatch pattern lines" note marks layers with many short parallel lines.
- Fill type suggestion: the type you used last time, then for SOLID the solid type with the closest colour, for a pattern a type whose name or fill pattern matches (AR-CONC → Concrete). No type is ever created. Type in a picker to filter it; select several rows (Ctrl or Shift) and change one picker to set them all.
- Convert creates one detail line per CAD curve and one filled region per filled face (invisible boundary, sent to the back) in one Undo step, selects them and reports what it made. Blocks are exploded unless you replace them with an existing detail item. Text is not converted. The source CAD is kept: hide it to check the result.
