Profile Tools
Split a Filled Region into its separate pieces, or merge several into one. The panel on the right lists the Filled Regions in this view and marks what each run created and deleted.
These tutorials are made for a computer screen. On a phone you can look; to try them, open this page on a laptop or desktop.

How it works
- Split All makes one Filled Region per separate piece. Split Selected shows each piece with a temporary green outline; pick some, then Finish. The picked pieces become new regions and the rest stays together. Holes stay with their outer boundary. Split only separates pieces that are already apart; it does not draw a new cut.
- Merge combines regions: separate ones keep their exact outlines, touching or overlapping ones are joined into one outline. When their settings differ, a table groups the regions with matching values. Click a value to use that group, then click other cells to mix single parameters. Identical settings skip the table.
- New regions copy the Type and parameters, and keep each boundary's line style. The originals are deleted. Each run is one Undo step, and success shows no dialog.
- By default the commands run straight away. Hold Ctrl when clicking to see the options window once (one line style for every boundary, keep or delete the original). Shift+click opens the settings.
- Subtract: the bottom region in draw order is cut by every selected region above it. The cutters are kept; the cut region is replaced in its draw-order slot and keeps its Type, parameters and line styles, while the cut edges take the cutter's style. Try the slab and the duct sleeve.
- Intersect: a new region covers only the area common to all selected regions, with the Type and parameters of the bottom one. The originals are deleted unless you untick that in the options window (Ctrl+click).
- Right-click selected regions for the same commands, plus Change Boundary Lines. Floors and ceilings (same level only) also work with Split and Merge in Revit; they are not shown on this page.
